tell me about is currently developing two research projects and
two systems projects:
Objective RST (Research)
To further our understanding of the structure of non-fiction text, we hope to
extend the Rhetorical Structure Theory (RST) proposed by Mann, et al at the USC
Information Sciences Institute to include pointers to unique objects being
discussed.
RST Extensions for Informational Text (Research)
While RST has been extended by researchers investigating Dialog Systems, we
believe that RST may need to be extended to capture Informational Texts of the
type that we expect to generate from a knowledge base.
Webfolio (System)
We are currently developing a web-based software system to help artists create
and maintain their own web sites. By using this system, the database created
can easily be re-published in other forms by portals.
WebMuseum (System)
When the Webfolio Project has been completed, we will extend the functionality
to support the needs of regional museums. Again, this mechanism will allow
automated re-publishing for portals.
